Adult Ministry

Our church is filled with adults of all ages, and our ministry with adults tries to meet the needs of all age groups.

Many of our adult ministries are connected with our Sunday Bible Study classes. Each week, age groups or interest groups meet to explore God’s Word and to form relationships that are genuine and caring. Our adults celebrate the good times together, and when death or sickness strikes, our adults are there providing meals, comfort, and loving care.

Some of our adults enjoy special ministries we provide. Several women’s groups meet regularly for Bible Study and mission action. Our men meet regularly for a fellowship breakfast. We offer retreats and special studies. Some of these studies look at biblical or ethical issues, while others help young parents cope with the demands of raising their children.

We also have places for adults who enjoy music. Whether you’re a beginning handbell ringer, a singer, or an instrumentalist, we have a place for you in one of our many musical ensembles.

Not only do we provide ministries to adults, but we provide places where adults can be involved in the significant work of our church. Several of our task groups work with the underprivileged of our area. Each summer, we have work teams that assist Appalachian Outreach in its home repair ministry. Sometimes our adults go on mission trips to meet the needs of people across the state or across the world. Some of our adults work with children, with youth, and with college students. Others find places of service by helping out in the office, helping to prepare meals, or in showing the love of Jesus to homebound people or people in nursing homes.

Our ministerial staff wants to help you connect with the ministries in our church. For more information on how to serve at First Baptist Church, please contact us.
