College Ministry

The College ministry of First Baptist seeks to provide opportunities for college students to find a hospitable and challenging community of faith where their faith will be nurtured and they we be inspired to discover their call to serve the world.  Aside from being conveniently located on the campus of Carson-Newman University, First Baptist offers students many opportunities to develop their faith and extend their service through congregational programs and ministries, as well as programs and ministries geared especially toward college students.

College Weekly Schedule

9:30 - 10:30am College Bible Study

Our College Sunday School Class meets in Room 301 and provides a time of fellowship, breakfast and an enriching Bible study.
10:45 - 11:45am Traditional Worship Service

This worship service meets in the sanctuary. Dresscode varies from casual to dressy, but we aren't partial to one or the other. The music reflects a traditional worship led by the Minister of Music. Instruments include grand piano, pipe organ, violins, and a brass band. Our church choir welcomes college students to join. Students interested in joining the choir may speak to our Minister of Music, Kim Bowen.

5:00-6:00pm Church Family Dinner

We offer Wednesday Night Supper to college students from 5-6 pm in the Fellowship Hall for $4. Come join the rest of the church family as we sit together and join in fellowship. Want to know what's for supper, go here.
6:00-8:00pm Opportunities for Service

If students are interested in serving in a local church, we have plenty of opportunities to offer. Child care, childrens ministry, youth ministry, choir, music, etc. Our ministries are enhanced by the many students who assist in the leadership. We look forward to plugging in students where they might be interested.

The college ministry regularly gets together for outings throughout the school year and summer. If you are interested in knowing about these outings, please join the email list or follow us on the FBC COLLEGE Instagram page.

MINISTRY INTERNSHIP - Have you sensed a calling toward ministry? Part of our church's responsibility to students is to assist them in their interest in serving the local church. If you are intersted in participating in our internship program, you may download an application and return it to Eric Hasha in the church office. Internships may include childrens ministry, youth ministry, college ministry and music ministry. Internship Program Application

CARSON-NEWMAN SCHOLARSHIP - Each year Carson-Newman students who are members of First Baptist Church may fill out and turn in a scholarship application for the following school year. The application for 2018-19 must be turned in no later than May 6 to the Minister of Students. APPLICATION
