Called Business Meeting

There will be a called business meeting on September 12, at 5:00 pm, to hear the recommendation of the Church Advisory Council.  Copies of the Advisory Council's report are available at the Sanctuary exits and in the office. 

 Senior Adult Sunday

Senior Adult Sunday will be September 12. 

New Sunday School Class Being Offered

Beginning September 12, we will offer a new class for newly baptized children and those thinking about that decision.

This class will take place during the regularly scheduled Sunday School hour. The class is called "I'm a Christian Now!" If your child or children are in this group, we encourage you to plan to bring them. It will help them understand God's word and strengthen their relationship with Him. It is designed to help them understand the decision they have made or want to make and what it means to live a Christian life.

Each week focuses on a new topic, such as:

This class is only five weeks long and will finish on October 10, when we will have a recognition ceremony during the 10:45 Worship Service for those completing the course.

Please call the church office at 865.475.3826 to sign up. The deadline to register is September 8, to ensure that each child has materials.

Youth Happenings

Youth Movie Night

"To Save a Life" Movie Event at 7:00 pm in Room 214.  Bring all your friends.  We'll be giving out prizes, too!  Parents are welcome to attend.

College Bible Study

"Faith Matters"

New "Faith Matters" College Bible Study will begin September 15 on Wednesday nights from 6:00 - 7:00 pm in Room 301. 

Senior Adult Events

Senior Adult Brunch

On Tuesday, September 14th, the Senior Adults will have brunch at Carver Applehouse Restaurant in Cosby.  Yes, it's our Fall Brunch and time for our annual trip to Carver's.  Meet at the church at 9:30 am and we will travel by van.  Be sure to bring extra cash for shopping for apples and other fresh produce.

Senior Adult Luncheon

On Tuesday, September 21, Senior Adults will have the monthly covered dish luncheon with a special program presented by Betty Cleveland.  Betty will be sharing some of her poetry from her book.  We always enjoy a great time of fellowship and a good meal, so plan to attend.

Volunteer Opportunities

Food Pantry Is Ongoing Project

Remember to bring food items for the Food Pantry at Appalachian Outreach.  Any non-perishable food items will be much appreciated.  Collection boxes for your food item will be at the usual spots around the church.  Household cleaning supplies and paper items are also needed.
