|Ministries - College Ministry|
The College ministry of First Baptist seeks to provide opportunities for college students to find a hospitable and challenging community of faith where their faith will be nurtured and their call to serve the world will find opportunities. Aside from being conveniently located on the campus of Carson-Newman College, First Baptist offers students many opportunities to develop their faith and extend their service through congregational programs and ministries, as well as programs and ministries geared especially toward college students.
COLLEGE WEEKLY SCHEDULE
8:30 - 9:15 AM Early Worship Service
This informal worship service meets in the sanctuary and is led by the contemporary ensemble accompanied by drums, guitars, piano and violins. Students interested in joining the ensemble may speak to our Minister of Music, Kim Bowen.
9:30 - 10:30 AM College Bible Study
Our College Sunday School Class meets in Room 301 and provides a time of fellowship, breakfast and an enriching Bible study.
10:45 - 11:45 AM Traditional Worship Service
This worship service meets in the sanctuary and our higher attended service. Dresscode varies from casual to dressy, but we aren't partial to one or the other. The music reflects a traditional worship led by the Minister of Music. Instruments include grand piano, pipe organ, violins, and a brass band. Our church choir welcomes college students to join. Students interested in joining the choir may speak to our Minister of Music, Kim Bowen.
5:00 - 6:00 PM Church Family Dinner
We offer Wednesday Night Supper to college students from 5-6 pm in the Fellowship Hall for $4. Come join the rest of the church family as we sit together and join in fellowship.
6:00 - 8:00 PM Opportunities for Service
If students are interested in serving in a local church, we have plenty of opportunities to offer. Child care, childrens ministry, youth ministry, choir, music, etc. Our ministries are enhanced by the many students who assist in the leadership. We look forward to plugging in students where they might be interested.
The college ministry regularly gets together for outings throughout the school year and summer. If you are interested in knowing about these outings, please join the
list or follow us on the FBC COLLEGE Facebook page
OPPORTUNITIES THIS SUMMER
END OF SUMMER RETREAT: Selah Vie
AUG 3-5, 2015
RSVP Deadline July 26
Our college students are serving all over the place this summer. After a summer of service it is nice to be able to pause and reflect on what your hands and feet have done. All college students (incoming students as well) are invited to attend this meaningful retreat.
Selah Vie is an end-of-summer retreat that allows college and graduate students to pause in the midst of life in order to reflect, listen, seek guidance and discern God's purposes and direction. Specialized tracks give attention to the different life stages in which students may find themselves. Topics for discussion and discernment include: Vocation/Calling, Relationships, Future, Next Steps, etc.
For more information about Selah Vie or the speaker, go here.
Have you sensed a calling toward ministry? Part of our church's responsibility to students is to assist them in their interest in serving the local church. If you are intersted in participating in our internship program, you may download an application and return it to Eric Hasha in the church office. Internships may include childrens ministry, youth ministry, college ministry and music ministry.
