Worship at First Baptist Church is central to who we are as a congregation. We do not simply worship God in song only but with our whole lives. We hope to glorify God through our thoughts, words, and actions. We hope you will join us at one of our two worship services on Sunday mornings.
Our Contemporary Worship Service (currently suspended for the summer) meets in the sanctuary at 8:30 a.m. The service is informal and lasts approximately 45 minutes. Most who attend dress casually. The music is led by a contemporary ensemble accompanied by keyboard, drums and guitars. The song and hymn lyrics are projected on a video screen.
Our Traditional Worship Service meets in the sanctuary at 10:45 a.m. This service is more formal than the Contemporary service and lasts approximately 1 hour. Dress style is your choice: casual or dresses and suits. The music is led by our Chancel Choir and accompanied by piano and pipe organ.
On the first Sunday of each month our contemporary worshippers and our traditional worshipper meet together for one combined worship service at 10:45 am. We call that service our Togetherness Service. In this service we combine the best elements of both worship traditions. When we conduct Togetherness Services, we have no worship service at 8:30am.
During the month of December, and on other occasions such as Easter Sunday, the Contemporary Worship participants join with the Traditional Service at 10:45 for a "Togetherness Service." Therefore there will be no Contemporary Worship service on those days.
