First Baptist Church Family,
Last summer Angie France, Clark Measels and I began the process of revising our by-laws. This process is the result of the structure changes to our church that was proposed by the Church Advisory Council in the spring of 2024, tested for a year and then adopted by our church in the summer of 2025. These proposed by-laws reflect the changes adopted by the church. Since the previous by-laws were suspended, we were able to do a complete review of the old by-laws and make changes as necessary to reflect how our church operates. These proposed by-laws are a rewrite. In many cases, no changes were made, in others there are significant changes.
Please review these proposed by-laws. If you wish to compare these changes with the old by-laws, you can find the old by-laws on the church website. If you prefer a printed copy, please contact the church office.
To adopt these new by-laws, we propose the following process.
March 8 (Sunday), immediately following the morning worship service, there will be an open discussion on the new by-laws. This will take place in Fellowship Hall. Lunch will not be provided. Please note, we will finalize the formatting after this first discussion.
April 8 (Wednesday) 6 p.m.– In place of Prayer Meeting, we will have our second discussion session. Immediately following the discussion, we will go into a called business session to make amendments or deletions to the proposed by-laws. All proposed amendments or deletions must be in writing. This special business meeting is called by the Church Advisory Council.
April 9 (Thursday) – The final copy of the by-laws will be available on the church website by the close of business.
April 18 (Sunday) – Quarterly Church Ministries meeting – A motion will be presented by the Church Advisory Council that the by-laws be adopted. This will be a vote only, no discussion.
If necessary, we will adjust this schedule as needed and with as much notice as possible.
Thank you,
Bill Ellis
