At First Baptist, we celebrate the uniqueness of each child and are dedicated to partnering with parents in raising their children in the Christian faith. Our preschool ministry seeks to help parents lay a foundation for the spiritual, emotional, and physical growth of their child. We seek to provide a safe and healthy environment of loving care and a teaching program that is appropriate for the development level of each child.

Our preschool ministries include Sunday School and Missions Education to help our preschoolers grow in their faith.

Our preschool environment is designed to teach preschoolers developmentally with theologically sound curriculum thru hands on learning centers, as well as in small and large group times. Preschoolers are placed in classes according to their birth date as of Jefferson County public school promotion regulations. We promote to the next age class each August. However, babies and creepers are moved based on their development to the best of our ability.

A Worship Education Series is offered in the fall for our rising Kindergarteners.

Throughout the year opportunities for parent education are offered and parenting resources are available through our children’s ministry.

One way our community of faith seeks to support young families is by voicing their support through a Dedication of Life Service where parents bring their child before the congregation demonstrating their desire to raise their child in the faith. Each child receives a certificate of dedication and a Read to Me Bible designed for preschoolers.

For your child's safety and your peace of mind, we want you to know that:

The dedicated preschool wing is locked during the service.
At least two adults are present at all times.
Background checks are completed on any adult working with children and must adhere to our preschool policies of safety and security.
Each room is equipped with age-appropriate toys.

Children’s Ministry

Sunday School for children at FBC incorporates large and small group activities, using developmentally appropriate and theologically sound curriculum. The goal is to help the children grow in knowledge of the Bible and Jesus's teachings, learning about the God who loves them, and how they can love their neighbors well.

Teachers offer a welcoming and supportive environment, embracing the uniqueness of each child.

Children may attend worship with their families if they would prefer to not attend Sunday School.

Supporting parents in their journey is an important part of our children’s ministry. Programs are planned throughout the year that offer educational support and fellowship opportunities. Parents gather weekly throughout the schoolyear, from 6:00-6:45pm following Wednesday Night Suppers.
