Text Messaging Privacy Policy

First Baptist Church Jefferson City (“FBC,” “the church,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, protect, and disclose information associated with the First Baptist Church Jefferson City Text Updates program.

Information We Collect

When you enroll in or interact with the text-message program, we may collect:

  • Your name.

  • Your mobile phone number.

  • Your email address, if voluntarily provided.

  • The date, time, source, and method of your consent.

  • The version of the consent language presented when you enrolled.

  • Your messaging preferences and ministry or group associations.

  • Messages you send to or receive from the church.

  • Opt-in, opt-out, HELP, and other keyword activity.

  • Message-delivery, failure, and response information.

  • Limited technical information needed to document consent, protect the program, and comply with applicable requirements.

How We Use Information

We may use this information to:

  • Send church announcements, ministry updates, schedules, reminders, event information, and time-sensitive notices.

  • Communicate with people regarding ministries, groups, volunteer responsibilities, and church activities.

  • Respond to questions or requests for assistance.

  • Process enrollment, preference, and opt-out requests.

  • Maintain consent and communication records.

  • Monitor delivery, prevent misuse, and improve the reliability of the program.

  • Meet legal, regulatory, carrier, and messaging-platform requirements.

Mobile Information and Messaging Consent

We do not sell or rent mobile phone information or text-message consent data.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

Text-message originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with third parties, except vendors, aggregators, wireless carriers, and service providers that help us operate and deliver the text-message program. These providers may use the information only to provide services to FBC and may not use it for their own marketing or promotional purposes.

The preceding statements apply specifically to mobile information and text-message consent, even if another portion of a general privacy policy permits other categories of information to be shared.

Service Providers

We may use service providers to operate the program, including communications platforms, hosting providers, database providers, security services, and wireless carriers.

These providers receive only the information reasonably necessary to perform services for FBC and are expected to protect that information appropriately.

Your Choices

You may withdraw text-message consent at any time by:

  • Replying STOP to a message.

  • Contacting the church office at help@fbcjeff.org.

  • Calling (865) 475-3826.

Reply HELP for assistance.

Withdrawing text-message consent will not affect your ability to participate in church activities, ministries, worship services, or events.

Data Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the text-message program, document consent and opt-out requests, maintain communication records, resolve disputes, protect the church and participants, and satisfy legal or regulatory obligations.

Opt-out and consent-history records may be retained after active messaging ends so that we can honor your preferences and demonstrate compliance.

Information Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect personal information. However, no internet, mobile, or electronic storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Policy Changes

We may update this policy when our practices, services, or legal obligations change. The revised policy will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
